❝ spring for flirting but fall for the untamed delicious wild things ❞

{ an autumn mixer }
𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒔 🍂
Elyas
Perhaps the best part of autumn, though, is the flora in its various states and forms. Various types of flowers that only bloom in the autumn and, of course, the leaves. Oh, the leaves! All of the colours, the smell, the sound of them crunching underfoot (especially late at night when everything is so quiet and the crunching of the leaves is the only sound) and the way they feel when he picks them up and crushes them in his hands. He just adores everything about them.
And it's for that very reason why, while out, he scoops up handfuls of leaves to crunch and then toss, occasionally hopping up in the air to grab leaves straight from the lower hanging branches of trees. He also stomps through some of the crunchier looking leaves on the street with a bright, wide grin on his face the entire time. The moment he spots an unattended pile of leaves that some human has raked up but not yet bagged, though, the fox's entire face lights up and he bounds off to run through it. And lay down in it. And roll in it. And generally be a menace to that pile of leaves.

Oh, but a sun puddle shining on a pile of leaves? That's heavenly!
So please be careful before you jump in that oh-so-tempting pile of leaves. You may find a little cat sleeping there.

From the way his face lights up, he may as well have been a kid, too! There’s a small buffet of extras to put on the apple after coating in caramel and he’s humming thoughtfully while looking between the nut crumble and the little candy bits. Anyone who knows him knows the candy pieces are going to win out. Annnnnnd…. That’s exactly what he dips his apple in next, bouncing on the balls of his feet with excitement as he does so.

chrissy ★
"Would you hand me the eggs?"
Chrissy's trying her hand at baking today. After being scolded so many times, and being passive-aggressively manipulated by her mother her entire life, she's finally taking those first few steps in reclaiming her own life. With the leaves changing colors, so will she, starting with making her very first pie dough in her tiny apartment by the community college.
She's smiling, already dusted with flour, strawberry blonde hair messily tied back with elastic. There's a shy giggle laced through her words as she finishes slowly stirring the dry ingredients. "Cm'on, I can't do this on my own!"

Though he didn’t reside at his estate full-time anymore, he always opened his gardens for others to tour. Of course, in addition to the natural beauty found there, he made sure they were decorated for the season. The lanterns along the paths were covered over with cutaways to cast haunting shadows all around. Iseul himself carved ornate jack-o-lanterns to light the footpaths and entertain those who might be interested in them. Maybe closer to Halloween he’ll hire some actors to be zombies in his hedge maze. They can double as aid for those who can’t find their way through (which, honestly, was most).

𝑺𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒇 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓🧣
Death
He looked like anyone else really. Though those that might fear death could probably feel a sense of foreboding when looking his way. Still, he didn't seem to notice, just walking the street and stopping to look into a shop now and then. It seemed like he was somehow a cross between model and businessman but with a quiet solitude to him.
Sensing he was being watched, he turned to look at who it was with a mild curiosity.

He's bothered all his friends for a little time and attention but with most of them in the full swing of the semester and the others juggling their jobs, he's left to wander aimlessly just to get himself out of the house. The city does look nice and he pauses to take photos of the turning leaves.
As someone who mostly dresses in all-black streetwear, he doesn't look especially autumnal save for the scarf wrapped around his neck. Or the scarf that was wrapped around his neck before it the wind loosens it and tries to take it away from him.

The cooler weather was such a relief from the scorching heat of summer. It was nice to feel like showering was actually effective for more than the first three minutes after walking out his door. The humidity tapered off and a crispness replaced it in the air. It made Dal’s habit of wearing layers much more tolerable, too. Shirt, hoodie, coat over that. He’s the sort of person who would have a vast collection of scarves and cute hats that looked like different animals if only his situation were a little different.
But there’s a downside, too: Dal’s almost always cold. Even in the height of summer, he got cold quickly (hence the love of layers). Luckily, the local diner wasn’t far away and the biggest cup of piping hot coffee didn’t cost a lot. He wasn’t a huge fan of fancy coffee drinks: just regular old coffee with a little milk and sugar was good enough for him. Dal spent a small fortune on skincare products and makeup, he wasn’t willing to do the same for his caffeine habit.
It’s late afternoon by the time he actually gets to the diner – he’ll probably be there several more times over the course of the night now that it’s getting cooler. He enjoyed the way the heat permeated through the paper cups to keep his hands warm (far more effectively than just shoving them in his pockets). Clutching the cup in both hands, he turned to push the door open with his butt, almost swinging it open into the next patron walking in.
“Oh! I’m sorry,” he exclaimed in thickly accented English.

lark ★
Friday night and things have really picked up after 5 PM, which means they've got Lark running back and forth from one private room to another, balancing trays of drinks and refilling water jugs. With the bartenders attempting to fix their frozen drink machine (pumpkin spice cocktails are waiting!), Lark also has to manage the room check-ins.
The bat wing headband he wears seems to flap anxiously as he tries to keep himself afloat, flustered and half paying attention when someone taps his shoulder.
"Sorry?"

Namely a haunted hay ride. Sometime he needed a partner to go with. Stupid but whatever he'd just grab someone.
Spotting someone alone, he grinned and went over to tap a shoulder. "Hey wanna have some fun?"

They come across a medieval tavern decked out in Halloween finery with fabric ghosts in the windows and lights strung across the bartop. It's easier to blend in here, especially when she has a black mask, hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail, clad in a figure-hugging jumpsuit. There are, of course, cat ears atop her head to complete the look. Not the most creative, but it was the best she could do having learned of this outing only yesterday.
Having fed beforehand, she feels entirely at ease in the crowd, though she does feel a little annoyed at having to wait so long to order a pumpkin-flavored beer. (The tavern does not have fancy cocktails.)

Janus 🚀
The city he's chosen this year has shut down a three-block-long stretch of road so that people wander from business to business (read: bar to bar) without having to worry about getting mowed down by a car because they're maybe slightly inebriated. Jan's found himself a hilariously inappropriate ~sexy spaceman~ costume to wear, complete with a pair of shiny silver shorts and a cropped "space jacket". It's so stupid and Jan laughs every time he sees himself reflected in a window.
His butt looks good, though.
Bottle of pumpkin spice liqueur clutched in his hand, Jan marches up to the first person he sees who doesn't look otherwise wholly occupied and taps them on the shoulder before lifting the bottle when they turn. "Cheers?"

And who is Matthias to judge them for that? He has a good time seeing their creativity (and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't a fan of whatever 'sexy' version of mundane things people come up with).
Unfortunately for him, Matthias' apartment is high up from the ground so he doesn't get a lot in the way of trick-or-treaters. So, he's claimed the roof again to throw his own little Halloween shindig. There's a sign he made outside the building advertising it to anyone who passes by. Does it matter if they don't know him? Not at all! They'll know him once they pop up onto the roof. He tapped arrows with little encouragement like 'you've made it this far' and 'you're almost there!' all through the building's halls.
Once on the roof, any visitors will be greeted by the sight of so many glowing jack-o-lanterns carved into ornate faces and scenes. There's a table with a variety of foods: mostly candy, charcuterie, and crudités. There are also drinks, hot and cold as well a variety of alcoholic beverages. He would've hired a bartender, but this is all sort of.... not approved of by the building management.
There aren't any chairs, but little cushions and blankets around for people to rest and relax on. Oh, and who could miss the Bluetooth speakers situated all around pumping out everyone's favorite creepy songs. Hope you like Thriller and the Monster Mash. Whenever someone new appears in the doorway, Matthias is there to greet them, more often than not already pressing a drink into their hand.

Alongside the pumpkin spice cake he had made with help from his friend and mentor, Claire, he brings a little potted verbena to be placed outside a window or on a balcony. Looking ready in a mustard sweater with his hair freshly combed, he lightly taps on the door with his foot, his arms full of gifts for the host.

At least the smells were nice. Despite all his anxiety he did keep lifting his head to sniff for that to see what they were. All while never being able to tell since they were so new.
Squirming, he stretched his neck just hoping he wouldn't have to wait much longer...

Could it be that Silvio’s the first person Simon’s actually felt safe with?
That’s how he felt when Silvio whisked him away to his house in the woods. That’s how he felt the first time Silvio took his hand. When every instinct told him to pull away, to conceal everything, Silvio’s kind nature only urged him to open up more. Now they were somewhere in that nebulous place where they weren’t just friends, but they weren’t really together either. That was still too big of a leap for Simon to take.
But he wanted to do something to show his appreciation – no, his affection for the other. So he waited until Silvio was out to set his plan into motion. With the weather turning cooler, curling up by a fire seemed like a wonderful way to spend an evening. Simon’s learned a few things since he started living with Silvio: getting a fire started in the fireplace was one such thing. Surprise! The city boy can be taught! When Silvio returned, the fire was blazing, two cups of coffee sat within reach and Simon waited for him under a warm fleece blanket on the couch.
