"Luckily my shoes should last me a bit longer. They don't wear out as fast, I've noticed." And even then he could go without them if they did. The benefits of being a wolf was that he didn't really need the clothes or the shoes. He just happened to like having them. As did most wolves actually.

"I like those colors though. Blue especially is really nice."

[lamia]

Su-jin was glad Silvio wasn't in dire need of shoes. Clothes, however, he knew from their last visit when the wolf was literally ripping his shirt apart so Su-jin could find his way home. The least he could do was replace what was lost because of him. So what if he happened to buy six more? And a couple extra pairs of trousers?

"I thought blue would look nice on you," he admitted a little shyly.

[typhlotic]

He shifted his head toward him a bit then grinned as he laughed softly. Su-jin was honestly really great. Getting to meet him? Getting to know him? He was grateful for it already. More than grateful for it honestly. It was like...a blessing in a way.

"You'll have to let me know if it really does when I'm okay enough to get dressed. I've got to rely on your eyes now."

[lamia]

"I'm sure it will. I have a good eye for these things." And Silvio had the right completion for it. Once he was healed and cleaned up, they could get him dressed and Su-jin could tell him how well the blue suited him with even more certainty.

[typhlotic]

"I'd say most people have a better eye than I do but that might be obvious at this point." Laughing a bit, he took the cloth off of those unseeing eyes and sighed softly. Slowly, he worked to get himself sat up a bit. Just because he was tired of laying down.

"But with how you talk about fashion you've always had a better eye than me for it."

"It helps me stay attached to the world." That and brushing up his legal education every now and then. "I think it's important for me to have some external thing to keep me from falling into anachronism."

[typhlotic]

"You're doing better than me. I'm honestly pretty out of touch with all the changes in the world aside from knowing they get louder and louder."

Which was not a fun experience for someone with his sense of hearing. The cars these days? It was such a headache. It was why he couldn't live in a city at all. He just had to stick to his forests and remind anyone trying to buy his territory that it was his and they couldn't have it.

He can only imagine how difficult some of the changes the world has seen even in the last century have been for Silvio. Su-jin's hearing is better than the average human's but he's no wolf. It must be horrible, the way the world's grown so noisy.

"It hasn't always been easy. I wonder if that's why we don't encounter each other more." By 'we' he meant the longer-lived creatures of the world. "Maybe we're just supposed to retire to spooky old castles trying to relieve more familiar times."

[typhlotic]

"Sounds miserable."

He laughed a bit though. It seemed ridiculous but it was part of Su-jin's sense of humor. And that he was easily learning he loved a lot. It flowed really well with his own. Since it had been awhile since he'd last joked around with someone? This was just what he'd needed.

"Doesn't it?" he agreed emphatically. "Castles are so dark and cold. Can you imagine the cost to heat one?" Now he's definitely being silly.

[typhlotic]

"Even if you settled for fires that's a lot of rooms to heat and a lot of fires to keep going." He loved the silliness, letting it pull him away from the pain that his body was in. It had been awhile since he'd had distractions when he was in pain. This was really nice.

"I'll stick with something smaller like my house here."

[lamia]

"Mmhm," he hummed in agreement. "Castles just require too much time and effort to keep up. Impractical, really. A house like this is much better." Though Su-jin himself would prefer something a little larger, a place like this could still meet a person's needs. Electricity, running water, indoor plumbing (oh, thank you indoor plumbing!), a solid roof, a door and windows to keep the weather out. But this didn't need to be up to his standards since he didn't live here. So he really had no justification to complain about the size. It was just right for Silvio, he thought.

[typhlotic]

"You'd be miserable living in my cabin." He grinned at him because he knew it was true and he wasn't the least bit offended. Su-jin was a city boy through and through and that was fine with him. The fact that he wanted to visit him at all? Spend time with him in his place? It meant a lot to the wolf.

"I bet you need somewhere bigger and tucked nicely in where there's lots to do and people to see."

[lamia]

"Only because it's in the woods," he protested immediately! "There's absolutely nothing wrong with this cabin." Except that it's not in the city. And not big enough for Su-jin's taste. And could use some redecorating... Okay... well, it would do in a pinch.

He bowed his head in defeat and sighed. "I do like to be in the city, that's true."

[typhlotic]

Silvio burst out laughing then lifted a hand up to his ear to tap near it. "I can hear when your pulse changes as you're trying to comfort me with white lies. It's okay, Su-jin. It doesn't bother me that you prefer another lifestyle. What matters to me is that you want to be here for me anyway. That says a lot about you to me."

[lamia]

"You needed help," he said in a more serious, but subdued tone. "I'm not so far out of touch with my humanity that I can ignore someone in need when they're before my eyes." And, in this case, it was in his power to do something helpful for a new friend.

[typhlotic]

"I don't think you're out of touch with it at all. And that's coming from someone who used to be human and wasn't born this way." He wanted that to be very clear. Even in the short time that they'd been friends, he could tell that there was a lot of negative feelings towards Su-jin's monster nature. While he couldn't remove those, he could reassure him by sharing what he could 'see' in him.

"Was it your choice?" The question was hesitant. His tone indicated that if Silvio didn't want to discuss it, Su-jin would be fine with that answer. It's always a curiosity to him when he meets those who weren't born as something other than human.

[typhlotic]

"To be changed? Yeah. My pack took me in when I was a child with no home and no family. They raised me and I saw the best and worst of them by being the one human in a pack of wolves. When I reached adulthood they said I could decide my own path. I chose them."

Silvio closed his eyes, his face contorted with painful emotions. Ones he was acknowledging but trying hard to not get overwhelmed by. "If I could go back in time and do it all over again I'd pick them every time."

[lamia]

"That's nice... That you were given the choice." And Silvio's sentiments just made Su-jin think he chose what was right for himself. It also served as a reminder of how lonely Silvio must be without his pack with him. Not even one of them.

[typhlotic]

"My pack were good people. Rough around the edges like most wolves are but good people." Silvio let out a laugh, eyes opening to start at the nothingness again. Just like they always would from now on. "I live for them now and protect people who get lost in the forest just as they did."

[lamia]

"You're a credit to them," Su-jin assured quietly. He didn't know Silvio long or well, but he knew enough to recognize his kindness and his good heart. "How are your eyes? I can rewet the cloth if you need me to."

[typhlotic]

"They ache. They always ache. But it's getting better." Still, he wasn't going to refuse a rewetting of the cloth. So he held it out for Su-jin to go do that. Better to take care of his eyes rather than just let them get or be worse than they already were.

Taking the proffered cloth, he dipped it in the bowl of water he used before. The water was cooler now and it trickled quietly when Su-jin wrang the cloth out.

"Here," he murmured as he pressed it back into Silvio's hand. "Do you usually just... suffer alone during the full moon?"

[typhlotic]

Taking the cloth, he put it back over his eyes. For a time he was quiet and it almost seemed like he might not answer. But he spoke softly in the end.

"Yes. It's not safe for others to be near me. I won't put them in danger."
