(( How cute his little feline friend is. He's sure Wooji crawled under the bed while he was still in his cat shape. That makes seeing him in a human form staring up at the bed slats even more amusing. ))

Hide and seek is my favourite game.

(( Matthias lowers himself to lay on the ground next to the bed, reaching an arm out to skritch Wooji's hair. ))

You look like you're having fun. Shall I join you under there?

( the physical affection — fingers carding through his hair, his favorite! — may have normally garnered a pleased hum, maybe even a low purr rumbling deep from his chest. in this euphoric state ... well, if wooji lets out a moan to rival a porn star, he's not to be blamed.

he turns his head to face the demon, blinking slowly. man, mathias is so pretty, even when he's hazy. )

Uh huh, please. ( and one of his hands, idle until now, grabs fruitlessly at the air. ) Was a tuxedo cat stayin' in this room before, did all kind of magic tricks — now I dunno where he went. ( cue a frown. )

((Note to self: invest in catnip. This is just too cute to resist.

Matthias is sure Wooji must've climbed under the bed in his feline form. Which probably made it easier. But, he offered to join the cat, so he has to pull his hand away from petting to do that. Only for a moment, though. He rolls onto his back and shimmies comically under the bed until he, too, is staring up at the bed slats.

Once he's settled, Matthias turns his head and reaches over to continue combing his fingers through Wooji's hair. It's only a little awkward like this. ))

Maybe disappearing is another of his tricks.

( matthias is almost definitely correct about how wooji got here — the black cat couldn't help but roll from side to side on his back, little feet in the air, reveling in his so-called high until he ended up under this bed.

not that wooji remembers that, of course. )

S'gotta be. ( and that makes jiji frown, brow furrowed as he blinks up at the bed through the darkness. why'd he have to disappear? he was fun and handsome. while wooji doesn't exactly react to matthias shimmying under the bed frame to be with him, he does end up rolling onto his belly to lay a little closer to him, cheek squished against the hotel room carpet, tail thumping against the floor. ) You have tricks, too.

I have a few tricks.

(( Matthias nods to affirm that.

It's not like him to really care, but it's no fun seeing Wooji glum like this. He's much more suited to exuberance and fun. ))

( wooji's eyes go round as saucers at the question, matthias just beginning to tug the cat from his brief state of melancholy. he doesn't know as much about demons as he knows about witches, but the stuff that this demon has shown him so far are pretty cool — even if it lets him cheat at hide and seek.

he doesn't exactly lift his head up, cheek still pressed against the floor, but he nods anyway. ) Uh huh, I do. Show me?

(( Wooji probably won't realize how special this is. Matthias doesn't usually show off this particular ability. There's more to it than what he often does and what he's going to demonstrate to Wooji, but it's more effort and a bit painful to alter his own bone structure.

Instead, he just cycles through a variety of different colors: hair, eyes, skin tone, all shifting easily like light through a prism. When it stops his eyes are their natural red, his face much paler than usual and he settled on the pink hair. ))

Ta da~ I can pick any colors you like.

( while the cat doesn't quite grasp the significance, he's mesmerized nonetheless, not even wanting to blink for fear that he might miss something. it's not unlike the intense fixation he might have in the presence of a laser pointer or something shiny dancing around the room — except this does not feel quite so unreachable. it takes a little bit of wiggling on his belly, but wooji ends up closer to the demon, fingers reaching out to touch those soft pink strands, blinking down at his newly red eyes. )

You're so pretty.

This can be our secret, okay~?

(( Not that Matthias really went out of his way to hide these things to other non-humans. But it feels like the right thing to say to the sulky cat. Well, at least Jiji's not sulky presently. It doesn't suit him. Matthias wiggles as best he can so they're practically cuddling under the bed. ))

Oh, ( wooji breathes out, adjusting his limbs so one of his legs can settle between one of matthias's, still laying on his belly, but half-draped over the demon now. ) I'm good at keeping secrets. ( and the cat nods affirmatively, scrunching his nose and then tipping his head forward to bump his nose against matthias's.

the cat's eyes flutter closed and silence washes over him — a comfortable thing, surprising even after the overstimulation of the catnip, but he doesn't sleep. after a moment though, voice quiet, he asks: ) Can I ask you a question?

( except he doesn't wait for approval before he continues. )

Aren't demons supposed to be bad?

(( Cuddling is nice. And, in his experience, most regular cats could be very cuddly. It doesn't hurt that Matthias himself is a very tactile creature. He likes being physically close to others — whether whomever he's getting close to likes it or not.

His eyes fall closed and he tilts his head slightly to meet that little bump of noses. In return, he cards his fingers through Wooji's hair, dragging his dull nails lightly along the cat's scalp. ))

What makes you think I'm not bad?

( if there's a quiet lilt of a purr on each exhale as he lays so comfortably with the demon, leaning his head into his hand as he cards through his hair so gently, wooji certainly can't be blamed. he revels in this kind of attention, as stereotypical cat of him as it is, but it kindofsortofmaybe feels even better when coming after a not-so-pleasant high, the perfect aftercare.

his tail thumps idly against the carpet as he considers that answer, quiet otherwise.

finally: ) You're nice to me. My witch used to tell me not to mess with demons because they'd take advantage of me.

(( Matthias watches him closely, seeing the comfort drape over Wooji like a blanket. Is he part of the cause? He'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy his hands in Jiji's hair, pampering him in the best way he can think of. He's always been fond of cats.

Humming softly in thought, Matthis ponders how to reply. After a moment, he sighs heavily before answering. ))

Your witch isn't wrong. I won't even say you shouldn't worry about me. It's in my nature to be manipulative. But...

(( Another long sigh. He pulls his fingers free of Wooji's hair and tips the cat's chin up. Whether or not Jiji opens his eyes is uo to him. ))

I like you. You're fun and you don't expect me to be anything more than what I am.

( wooji doesn't seem particularly fazed by the demon's response — it's in his nature to be manipulative, maybe, but he's never manipulated wooji. or — well. if he has, the cat has never felt it, so that means that it couldn't have been bad, could it?

he blinks his eyes open slowly at the lack of fingers in his hair, chin tipped up so he can look at the beautiful, beautiful demon before him. ) Of course I don't — 'cause you don't expect me to be anything more than I am, too. ( and he smiles, a sweet thing. ) You like me, huh?

I've always been fond of cats.

(( Yes, he'll brush it off with that. Yes, it must be because Wooji's not human. Humans are just... toys, really. But spirits and other monsters? They're at least worthy of some respect. They're usually the sorts that recognize Matthias for what he is and either accept it or steer clear.

At the heart of his dislike for humanity in general is the fact that he so often pretends to be someone else with them. To worm his way into their lives, he dons the mask of whatever they want most to see in another. Weeks, months, years, in rare cases, decades of pretending. That's why Matthias values those who don't expect him to be anything he's not.

He huffs as if the cat's question is ridiculous, then shoves his hands back in Wooji's hair. ))

What's not to like, Jiji~? You're cute and fun.

I know! ( and a coy little grin crosses wooji's face — 'cause yeah, he's definitely cute, and he certainly tries to be fun. but really, he's just being silly, which seems to suit the two of them just fine.

that's a comforting thing for wooji, too. having someone who genuinely enjoys his company, who helps to tether him somewhere — if only for a little while. he's tried not to be so reliant on others as each life passes since he knows how it'll end, eventually ... but that also gets pretty lonely. wooji doesn't do lonely very well.

the cat purrs unabashedly as those hands find his hair again, no longer shy about that low sound rumbling in his chest. he wiggles to press a little closer (as though he isn't already laying half on top of the demon), nose scrunched as he presses a little kiss against his lips. ) Thanks for finding me. I feel a lot better already.

(( Matthias chuckles at Wooji's response. It's good he knows he's adorable. Adorable can go a long way with the right people. And Matthias happens to be a little shallow so cute and pretty people tend to keep his attention.

It also doesn't hurt that Jiji's so easy-going. It's comfortable being around him and Matthias values comfort very highly.

He curls his fingers to lightly run his nails across Wooji's scalp with each stroke of his hands through the cat's hair. It's relaxing just playing with his hair. It's probably the purring that's so damn soothing. ))
