If only Laurent could actually see the faces of the children as Elyas told them about the adventures of the fox and his beautiful vampire. He's often thought of nudging Laurent awake in the late afternoon when the children are still allowed outside and bringing the children by the house. Laurent would still be perfectly safe in the darkened bedroom! He could tell the children all of his stories and run around the room with them and for once, Laurent would get to be present for all of it!

Except that the parents would never allow it without them present, and Elyas would never allow the presence of the parents. Waking Laurent up at such an odd time of day with only the bedroom for safety feels like it could potentially leave him a little too vulnerable and Elyas doesn't trust the adults to not take advantage of that if they even so much as suspected his beloved was not one of them.

Not that Laurent would be in any real danger as long as Elyas is there. The fox would gladly rip out their throats and watch them drown in their own blood if it meant protecting his love, but he wouldn't want to put the children through having to see that. Or perhaps he'd have to kill them too and he'd really prefer not to.

There really are no easy solutions to including Laurent in his daytime activities outside of just describing them to him. And while he delights in doing just that (there's something about the way Laurent looks at him when he's talking about his day that makes Elyas fall in love with him all over again), just once he would love to find a way to experience that with him.

If there's a way, Elyas will find it. He has until the end of time to search, after all.

Elyas bounces up and down on the balls of his feet next to Laurent as they get closer to where he's certain their guest will be. "Yes! There's a big, beautiful old tree that I loved to sleep under. Its branches let just enough sunlight through so I could feel it on my skin but not enough that it kept me awake. It was my favourite spot in the springtime. And this farmer smells just like it!" When given the choice, himself, Elyas always tends toward the more the more earthy ones. They always smell like home and are often built strong, man or woman. They're always so pleasant to look at.

"Oh and be careful with this one. He may be big and burly, but he's quite shy. He got so red in the face when I tried to taste him even though we were alone. It was adorable! He's eager though. He'll loosen up once we get him home and away from potentially prying eye, I'm sure of it. He's going to be such a fun guest!"

Then Elyas starts to hop up and down and pats Laurent's arm before pointing toward a group of people gathered just in front of a cute little shop. "There he is! Do you see him? He's with his friends. The tall one!"
