Alas, by the time the children are allowed to be out when Laurent is awake, they're too told to be any more fun. They don't care to hear about his beautiful mountain and they've no interest in his love. They try to poke holes in his stories about nine-tailed foxes and vampires and call him a liar when he tells them it's all true. And they most certainly don't want to play with him anymore. Children who are allowed out after dark are no better than the useless adults.
Elyas doesn't like to tell Laurent about those things though. He'd prefer to tell him about the good things that happen during the daytime. The flowers and the water and the cute children. The beautiful colours and the songbirds and the warmth on his skin. Those are the kinds of things he wants Laurent to know about the daytime. His life is already governed by darkness so Elyas never wants it to bleed into stories about the light.
"Of course! We'll go see them tomorrow night and we can spend all night with them!" Elyas could never doubt Laurent. The vampire has never given him any reason to. He's never gone back on his word, he's never broken a promise. He's never once disappointed his fox. And at this point, Elyas isn't sure he could.
An entire night spent with them will be much better. He can take the time to perfectly describe what they look like in the daylight. Allow Laurent to properly imagine them in bloom while he's surrounded by their wonderful scent. Yes, taking tomorrow night to go for their walk will be much better.
Tonight is for something a little different now. While he's been able to satiate himself with human energy (ah but some of the younger girls have been so easy to lure out of the sight of others for a kiss or two with the sunshiney red-haired foreigner. He should feel bad about stealing their first kiss along with their energy, but they're so delicious), he longs for something more hearty. And his love hasn't eaten since before they came to this country. It needs to be remedied. He'll not have his vampire starving.
"It's a man with hair the colour of sand and bright blue eyes like I've never seen before! He's broad and quite tall. Taller than either of us, I think! His voice reminds me of water gently flowing over smooth stones. Like a quaint, babbling brook! It doesn't suit him at all!" He takes a moment to giggle to himself at his last comment. "He smells like freshly tilled soil. I think he might be a farmer! You'll love him, my sweet."
