"Trusting someone doesn't make you stupid, Dal. You were really brave. Because of your actions we got him off the streets and he'll never hurt anyone ever again. Because of you I was able to put an end to all his evil. Perhaps you did fall for his trick at first but you were far from stupid. You are the bravest, most intelligent man I've ever met."

And he meant every word of that. If Dal hadn't kept his composure to do what he did then Gabriel would have needed to identify his body instead.
