Matthias hummed in agreement. The idea of playing chess with some other immortal creature for the rest of forever was not appealing in the least. Even he takes breaks from toying with people now and then. No, no, he’s definitely not in the market for a lifelong enemy, thanks.
That dangling offer left an itch Matthias can’t help but scratch. He followed behind Sam, hooking a hand around him arm so he couldn’t escape any further. Oh, he’s sure it’s Sam being gallant and offering to protect him. Someday, Matthias may need that. However, at present, any ‘enemies’ he’s made are all baseline humans with little or no means of affecting any real harm to him.
