Typically, Matthias prefers to socialize with fewer predators, creatures whose strengths and weaknesses he can better estimate without having an altercation to test them. He prefers to be the dangerous one. Here, among so many other ancient and powerful beings? Well, he's not so sure of his standing here.

But it isn't uncomfortable. It merely makes him a smidge more cautious. These are not the sorts of creatures he wants to make enemies of. Hell, he doesn't even want any of them to find some grudge against him. He keeps all that to himself, hidden away out of view from his expression.
